Altamont - Mr. Alvin Hammers, 93, passed away Thursday December 27, 2012. He was born in Palmer on July 14, 1919 to Alex and Susie Meeks Hammers who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Ben, Douglas, F.M. and Franklin Hammers; sisters, Georgia Sanders, Rosie Keener and Agnes White. He is survived by his sisters, Eva Essary, Illinois, Violet Lofty, Whitell, TN, Myrtle Couey, Boaz, AL and Dorothy Scott, Altamont, TN; brother, James Hammers, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Dal Barrett officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Visitaiton: 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
