Gruetli-Laager - Carl Edward Sanders, 60, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010. He was born on February 17, 1950 to Willie Carl and Willene Schlageter Sanders who preceded him in death along with his brother, William Allen Sanders. He was a 1968 graduate of Grundy County High School where he played on the football team. He was a local business owner and community activist until his health failed him. He is survived by his daughters, Gena (Brian) Baggett, Carla (Andy) Burden, Selena (Ian Zane) Sanders and Sheena Sanders; sisters, Brenda (Bob) Ruehling and Cheryl Campbell; brother, Ricky (Joann) Sanders; grandchildren, Alex, Caroline, Eli, Mason, Jackson, Hannah, Draven and Hailey; 5 nieces and 4 nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Bob Ruehling officiating. Interment: Swiss Colony Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM Friday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
