Obituary of Harold Douglas Gipson

Coalmont - Howard Douglas Gipson "Hoot", 84, passed away Friday, June 03, 2011 at his home. He was retired from Carrier Corporation in Morrison and was a US Army Veteran of WWII and member of and past commander of the VFW POST 9586 in Monteagle. He also operated a produce stand at his home. He was born on December 28, 1926 to George and Eleanor (Scruggs) Gipson who preceded him in death along with his sister, Alene Jackson; brothers, Harold, James and Wayne Gipson; grandson, Tracy Gipson; great-granddaughter, Randi LaShay Hargis. He is survived by his wife, Jewell Gipson; daughters, Kathy Campbell (Jeff Barrett) and Lauren Gipson; sons, Kirk (Coretta) and Keith (Margie) Gipson; sisters, Doris Yokley (late Buford) and Billie Ruth (Bob) Roddy; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Altamont City Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM Saturday and 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM Sunday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, TN.
