Gruetli-Laager - Mrs. Loretta Layne, 72, passed away Saturday September 1, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Louie H. Smartt; husband, Claude A. Layne; brothers, Landis and Charlie Smartt. She is survived by her daughters, Claudette (Ricky) Caldwell and Gayle Borne; son, Danny Lee (Tammy) Layne; mother, Martha Lee Pickett Smartt; sisters, Judy Pliley, Marsha Conte and Nadine Locke; brothers, Billy (Dottie), James Allen, Jeff (Wanda), Johnny (Debbie) and Tommy (Chris) Smartt; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Swiss Colony Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
