I thought a lot of Elmo Whitman. He was one of the first people I met when I came to Altamont.We had a lot of nice talks about a lot of things when I would buy lumber from him. I would see him go by my house lots of times in his brown 4x4 truck to check out a wood lot or with his shotgun beside him in the seat going hunting.When I would see him with that old GMC log truck rolling down the road,piled sky high with logs, I knew he had to know his stuff to drive that without turning it over. Good man and down to earth smart and wise. I'll miss him.
