Obituary of Thomas Davis Moore

Gruetli-Laager - Mr. Thomas D. Moore Sr., 83, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012. He was born in Decherd, TN to Evelyn Northcutt Moore and James Horace Moore. He spent his childhood in Palmer and Gruetli. Thomas was a veteran of the Korean War, a lifelong educator and active in the Grundy County Co-op, Farm Bureau, Library Association, Board of Elections and a member of the Gruetli Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, James Horace Moore, Jr.; daughter, Anna Evelyn Moore. He is survived by his two daughters, Mona Moore Brittingham (John) and Claire Moore Cowart; son, Thomas D. Moore, Jr.; three grandchildren, Emily Anne Douglas, Stuart K. Douglas and Olivia Mae Cowart; a host of loving nieces and devoted extended family members. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Visitation: 11:00 AM until time of service at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
