Obituary of Roger Dale Bess

Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. Roger Dale Bess, 68, passed away Monday July 27, 2020 at The Waters of Winchester Nursing Home.  He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on February 1, 1952 to Basil and Mary Elizabeth Lockhart Bess.

 

Before his retirement he worked as a EMT for the Grundy County Ambulance Service, had been a coalminer and a truck driver.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Basil Bess; infant son, Timothy Bess; infant daughter, Chasity Bess; nephews, David and Brian Bess.

 

He is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth “Shorty” Bess; son, Chad Bess; daughter, Amy (Ronald Byers) Bess; brothers, Bodie (Diane) Bess and Shane (Mary Jo) Bess; grandchildren, Josey Byers, Kayle  (Josh) Scruggs, Shelby and Kelby Byers; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday at the Altamont Cemetery with Minister Andy Lockhart officiating.

 

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
