Obituary of Anthony Edward Sanders

Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mr. Anthony Edward Sanders, 66, passed away Tuesday October 27, 2020 at his home in Gruetli-Laager surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Sewanee, Tennessee on December 13, 1953 to Elzie Sanders and Myrtle Braden Sanders who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Jack and James “Jim” Sanders; sisters, Dorothy Campbell, Elizabeth Nolan, Joyce Sanders and Jewelene Nance.

Anthony was a retired coal miner and poultry grower. He was a long time Christian attending Mount Etta Holiness Freewill Baptist Church

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Bivens Sanders; sons, Brent and Brian (Candie) Sanders; daughters, Alissa (Jeremy) Meeks and Katie (David) Parker; sisters, Alice (Donnie) Hargis and Rita (Landon) Swanger; grandchildren, Austin, Cole, Dylan, Tyler and Trenton Sanders, Logan (Summer), Jaron and Megan Meeks, Bryson Parker; several nieces and nephews; his canine companion, Jenny.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Lloyd Crisp officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Visitation 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM Thursday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
