Obituary of Thelma Ruth McGee

Altamont, Tennessee – Mrs. Thelma Ruth McGee, 86, died peacefully Tuesday January 19, 2021 at her home with her family at her bedside. She was born in Altamont, Tennessee on January 27, 1934 to Buford and Sarah Scott Tate who preceded her in death along with her sister, Dorothy Jean Fults;  brothers, Sherman and Richard Tate.

 

She was a member of the Church of Christ at Altamont.

 

She is survived by her husband, Loyd McGee; sons, Virgil (Rebecca), Vic (Phoebe) and Stacy (Karen) McGee; daughters, Valerie (Hollis) Ferrell, Velma McGee (Kenneth Lockhart), Virginia (Jimmy) Ferrell and Vanessa Hobbs; brothers, Linuel (Mildred) Tate, Phillip Tate and David (Kathy) Tate; sisters, Jewell (Ronnie) Akins and Annie Mae (Late Cotton) King; 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Jeff Collet, Willie Childers and Wayne Harris officiating with burial to follow in the Fults Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
