Obituary of Mary Ruth Shadrick

Palmer, Tennessee – Mrs. Mary Ruth Shadrick, 70, went to be with her Lord unexpectedly Friday March 5, 2021 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee from surgery complications.

 

 She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on January 28, 1951 to David Foster Phillips and Rubie Nell Davis Phillips who preceded her in death along with her brothers. Spec. Marvin F. Phillips, Jerry Lee Phillips and Bill Phillips.

 

She was a faithful member of the Gruetli Church of God.  She was a volunteer at Palmer Elementary School and had worked for the State of Tennessee in the Child Support division and at the Palmer Black Lung Clinic. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved her church family.  She loved cooking, baking, gardening and family gatherings. She shared her baking with those she loved.   

 

She is survived by her husband, Mike Shadrick; son, Travis (D’Anna) Shadrick; daughters, Kim (Randy) Shadrick and Jamie (Eric) Weaver, Jayley Shadrick; sister, Lucy (Paul) West; brothers, James Earl Phillips, Glenn (Terry) Phillips and Kirk (Paula) Phillips; grandchildren, Bryant, Carissa, Stefan, Justin, Brandon, Matthew; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Bishops Herbert Ward and Willard Griffin officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Sunday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
