Mrs. Anna Christine Bess, 83, went to be with her Lord on April 4th peacefully at home surrounded by her family after enduring several illnesses.

She was born in Gruetli, Tennessee on January 28, 1938 to Lawrence Borne and Maude Victoria Woodlee Borne who preceded her in death along with her brothers Earl, William Stanley, Melvin (Snood), and Andrew Clayton; sisters Mildred Borne Marshall, Alma Jean Borne Lay, and Glenda Borne.

She was a member of McMinnville First Baptist Church. She worked at a hat factory in Cowan and then Carrier Air Conditioning in McMinnville for 28 years. She was a loving daughter, wife, stepmother, aunt, and friend, who cared for her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews as well as her extended family with a mothering heart.  She loved working on the farm, gardening and canning, and looked forward to the Borne Woodlee family reunion every year.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 44 years, George Cope Bess; stepchildren, Sheila Fann; Todd (Renea) Bess; brothers, Dave Borne and Robert (Cosmo) (Doris) Borne; brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Marlyn Tate; grandchildren, Lexi Fann, Justin and Hunter Bess; 3 great grandchildren, 22 nieces and nephews, and a host of grand and great grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday April 6, 2021 at McMinnville Funeral Home, McMinnville, Tennessee and 10:00 am -2:00 pm Wednesday March 7, 2021 at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee with the funeral being at 2:00.  Bro Don Owens officiating with nieces Kim Marshall and Shanda Misiolek delivering the eulogy and obituary. Burial will follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery.
