I will always remember Crista’s kindness and how she cared for her students. Our students will never forget her and “Sadie the Reading Dog”. I am fortunate to have known her as a colleague and a friend.

Crista and I taught third graders together for a number of years when she lived in FL. She was always a supportive colleague and friend. As a teacher, she always thought of innovative and creative ways to inspire her students. At the time, Sadie, was her black Lab. When Sadie wasn’t visiting sick patients with Charlie, she would come to school with Crista. Reluctant readers were excited to have the opportunity to read to Sadie. In fact, when Sadie passed, a special garden was created on campus for her ashes.
One of Crista’s favorite things to do after school was to to go to the boarding farm where she kept her horse, Sunny. I went with her once and kept her company while she groomed Sunny and loved on him. When Crista and Charlie moved to TN, you know Sunny went, too. I’m sure where they chose to live was centered around a place for Sunny.
I’m saddened to think Crista is gone too soon, but thankful that as a woman of faith, her eternity is secure.
