Obituary of Dorcas Shadrick Coffelt

Whitwell, Tennessee – Mrs. Dorcas Ann Coffelt, 74, passed away at her home Tuesday July 27, 2021, with her family at her bedside.  She was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on November 11, 1946, to Carl Alton Shadrick and Gracie Mae Green Shadrick who preceded her in death along with her brothers, Johnnie, Paul Wesley, James David, Joseph Carl, and Phillip Alton Shadrick.

She was a member of the Palmer Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, John Henry Coffelt; son, Johnny Lee Coffelt, Brooklyn, New York; daughters, Joanna (Richard) Garner, Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Janie Coffelt King (John) Seber, Whitwell Tennessee ; brothers, Jewel Henry (Deanna) Shadrick, Whitwell, Tennessee  and Jerry Loyd (Dalphine) Shadrick, Shelbyville, Tennessee ; sister, Wanda Fletcher (Ray) Rollins; 5 grandchildren, TaShawnna (Tyler) Calbaugh, Dayton Tennessee, David Ray King II, Whitwell Tennessee, Daniel Ryan (Megan) King, Winchester Tennessee, Tarah Michelle Garner, Signal Mountain Tennessee and Jonathan Matthew (Jackie) Seber, Whitwell Tennessee ; 3 great grandchildren, Riley Grace King, Harper Noel Calbaugh and Benjamin Thomas Calbaugh and a host of adoring nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Scott officiating with burial to follow in the Griffiths Creek Cemetery. 

Visitation 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM Thursday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
