Obituary of James Franklin Pickett

Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. James Franklin Pickett, 84, passed away Sunday August 15, 2021 at his home at Hills Creek.  He was born in Hills Creek near Irving College, Tennessee on February 18, 1937 to Vernon Pickett and Lassie Taylor Pickett who preceded him in death along with his wife, Shirley Ann Pickett; daughter, Carol Smith; grandson, Orion Meeks; brothers, Edward, Gene and Melvin Pickett; sisters, Emalene Keener and Mary Barrett.

 

James was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired Machinist.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Darlene (Bradford) Meeks; son, Chris (Kim) Pickett; sisters, Sadie Sullivan, Erma Fitch, Linda Anderson and Earlene Keener; grandchildren, Dakota (Hope) Meeks, Clarissa (Austin) Campbell, Shalyn and Dalyn Pickett, Matthew (Danielle) and Justin Smith; great grandchildren, Garrett and Karlee Meeks, Calum Campbell, Otto, Raelee  and Mattilynn Smith; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Melody Lanz.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Eddie Birdwell officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery.

 

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.
