Obituary of Roberta Jean Sellers
Altamont, Tennessee – Mrs. Roberta Reeves Sellers, 72, passed away Saturday August 21, 2021 at the STRHS-Sewanee Hospital. She was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on February 25, 1949 to Robert Lee Reeves and Anna Viola West Reeves who preceded her in death along with her sisters, Louise Williams and Glenda Reeves; brothers, Edward, Calvin and Lavaughn Reeves; grandson, Zephaniah Meeks.
She taught learning skills to the disabled and enjoyed watching Trey Andersons Sunday School class on Facebook every Sunday. Roberta worked at Duval Home for the Disabled in Astor, Florida. Prior to moving to Florida she worked as an intake clerk for James Spalding at the Hamilton County Health Department. After returning to Tennessee she worked at Exceptional Enterprises in Grundy County. Then she was the primary care giver for her mother and sister Glenda until their death in 2007.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Sellers; daughter, Tonya (Timothy) McCarver; son, Edwin David Congdon; sisters, Shirleen (Denver) Bryson, Lenda (Larry) Clark and Cleo Smith; brother, Leo Reeves; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; step-children, Jeana Sellers, Elizabeth Sellers and Kenneth Sellers.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Swiss Colony Cemetery.
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
