Obituary of Junior Roberts

Palmer, Tennessee – Mr. Monroe “Junior” Roberts Jr., 91, passed away Friday September 3, 2021 at his home.  He was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on March 31, 1930 to Monroe Roberts Sr. and Vergie Shrum Roberts who preceded him in death along with his sisters, Marie Nunley and Inez Green; brothers, James Sweeton and Ted Sweeton.

 

He was US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He attended the Barkers Cove Community Church.  He was a coalminer and worked at Midland Steel in Cleveland, Ohio came home and owned and operated Roberts Grocery in Palmer, Tennessee for 20 years before his retirement.

 

He is survived by wife, Lucy Crabtree Roberts; sons, Kenny (Patricia) Roberts, Mark (Christy) Roberts; grandchildren, Kendra (Waylon) Fincher, Rena Meeks and Jon-Luc (Hannah) Roberts; great grandchild, Alycia; several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Ray Winton officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery.

 

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Sunday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee
