Obituary of Barbara Mae Creighton

Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mrs. Barbara Creighton, 79, passed away Monday September 20, 2021, at her home after a long battle with colon cancer.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on November 3, 1941, to Mart Clinton Meeks and Mary Juanita Henderson Meeks who preceded her in death along with her brother, Martin Meeks.

Barbara served as Postmaster at the Tracy City and Coalmont, Tennessee post office and retired after 38 years of service.  After her retirement she became the cook for the Grundy County Jail before retiring again.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Taylor Creighton; sons, Brian Jones and Brad (Stephanie) Creighton; daughter, Stephanie Burnett; sisters, Mary (Kay) Roberts and Donna (Late Bobby) Rollins; sister-in-law, Edna Meeks; grandchildren, Trevor Jones, Baylee (Daniel) Stiefel, Whitlee (Thaniel) Smith, Blake (Kerastin) Burnett, Haley and Colton Tate; great grandchildren, Payton Tate and Leeland Burnett; several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Matthew Meeks and John Potts officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
