Obituary of James Ray Dempsey
Whitwell, Tennessee – Mr. James Ray Dempsey, 89, passed away on January 14, 2022. He was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on November 7, 1932, to Hubert and Jessie White Dempsey who preceded him in death along with his son, James Bary Dempsey; sisters, Corrine Dempsey, Aline “Runt” Dempsey and Imogene Durham; brothers, Jerry Dempsey, and Bob Dempsey.
James Ray enjoyed fishing and working with wood. He attended First Baptist Church of Whitwell.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pat Tate Dempsey; sons, Darrel Dempsey and Eric (Shannon) Dempsey; granddaughter, Briley Dempsey; brother, Bill Dempsey; Sister-in-laws, Ruby Dempsey and Billie Dempsey.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 6:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Whitwell with Bro. Matthew Daniel officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 PM –6:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
