Obituary of Michael Wayne Childers

Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. Michael Wayne Childers, 68, passed away Monday January 31, 2022.

He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on November 30, 1953, to Gordon Edwin Childers and Georgia Marzee Dickerson Childers who preceded him in death along with his son, John Michael Childers; brother, Charles Edwin Childers.

He had worked at Carrier for over 30 years and retired as a Custodian at North Elementary School.  He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Elkhead and attended the Altamont Church of Christ for evening services.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Lakin) Childers; sister, Sandra (Terry) Richardson; brothers, Gary (Odell), Terry (Joanne) and Danny (Dawn) Childers; sister-in-law, Linda Childers; grandchildren, Karlee, Kaylee and Ceanna Childers; great grandchildren, Mason and Paislee Baker, Asher Smith; several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Willie Childers officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery.

Visitation: 12:00 Noon – 4:00 PM Friday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.
