He has only been part of our families lives for a short time, since Nathan married precious Megan. But during this time we have come to love the whole family greatly. The legacy that Mr. Winton leaves his family, his community, and his church is a legacy that is so rare these days. It was an honor to know him and oh how I wish it had been longer. Love and prayers for all those who love him.

So sorry to hear of Ray passing. I had known Ray since I was a young boy. He was a dear friend. After my wife passed he would call me and ask how I was doing, and give me words of comfort. I will miss him. I pray God will comfort his family as only he can in times like this.

I first met Mr. Winton & Thomas Rollins at the Fannie Moffitt Celebration at Altamont in October 2016. I was there with Paul Sherrell who was a candidate for state representative. Mr. Sherrell was elected the next month and four of us became close friends.
Mr. Winton came from a Christian home, and you could tell it by his demeanor. He loved his hometown of Coalmont and was alsways active in whatever went on there. He was especially proud of the Coalmont Community Center, which was dedicated to the memory of his friend Sam Creighton.
My sincere sympathy is extended to his family and friends.

The Tribute photos were for Mr. Ray was fabulous to me. I appreciate all the memories for I not only remember him as my three children's super English teacher. I was a substitute teacher for him at Coalmont school and he encouraged me to attend college to be a teacher. I did and taught in Grundy County for 21 years.Thank you Mr. Ray Winton.

One of my favorite memories of Ray is him leading the singing at a revival. It was in the summer, all windows open & flying bugs were circling the light fixtures.
I had been told to stop giggling with my cousins. I was trying until a moth flew in Ray’s mouth while singing “I am resolved”. He didn’t miss a note but my giggles were contagious that night. What a huge loss. My prayers & sympathy are for his loving family. Sharon Long Huling
