Obituary of Shawn Barrett

Altamont, Tennessee – Jimmy Shawn Barrett, 53, passed away unexpectedly Friday August 11, 2023, at the Unity Medical Center in Manchester, Tennessee.  He was born in Cumberland Heights on July 28, 1970. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy L. Barrett.

He was a graduate of Grundy County High School.  He worked as a Logger, Trucker and Sawmill operator. He was a true jack of all trades. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Altamont Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Meadows Barrett; son, Ridge Barrett; daughters, Keiana Barrett (Blake Braden), Jaia Barrett (Hunter Williams) and Kennadi Barrett; mother, Kay Fults Barrett; brothers, Brannon (April) Barrett and Jarron (Chasity) Barrett; sisters, Latosha (Jarred) Nunley, Shellon (Chris) Hobbs and Angelica (Jeremy) Wellman; grandchildren, Zaedrix and Phoenix; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Aaron Barrett and Bro. Charlie Barrett officiating with burial to follow in the Wesleys Chapel Cemetery.

A memorial monument in his memory will be placed at the AirView Cemetery.

Visitation: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.
