Palmer – Mrs. Dorothy Mae Brown Savage, 93, entered into Heaven on Monday, May 2, 2016, in Smyrna, Tennessee under the care of The Arbors and Gentevia Hospice Care.
Mrs. Savage was born on September 27, 1922 to the late George W and Nora Dent Brown. She was a homemaker, a Sunday school teacher, Nazarene Missionary President, Family and Consumer Education Club Member and CNA. She loved gardening and growing her many beautiful flowers. She married the late Nelmon Savage on 01/02/1943 and together they owned the Savage Farm and Nursery in Palmer, Tennessee. They worked beside each other for more than 50 years. Mrs. Savage was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Palmer, Tennessee. She was a kind and gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. Nothing made her happier than when her family were all with her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Nelmon O. Savage in 1998. Six brothers, Oscar, Elmer, Leo, Delbert, Charles, and Frank Brown. Her twin sister Dora Mae, and her younger sister Margie Brown.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her two daughters and their families, Patricia Ann (Bob) Creighton of Murfreesboro, TN, and Nelda Carol (Ray) Gomer of Palmer, TN. Five grandchildren, Melissa Creighton (Andy) Hatcher of Lebanon, TN; Amy Creighton (Neil) Stokes of Green Cove Springs, FL; Cary (SarahBeth) Gomer of Palmer, TN; Laurie Gomer of Old Hickory, TN; and Emily Gomer (Cliff) Hinson of Richmond, VA. Nine great-grandchildren: Jordan and Bobby Hatcher, Ashley and Aiden Stokes, Cullen, Clay, Casey, Caleb and Catie Gomer, and Carter Hinson. Three great step-grandchildren, Kaytlynn, Cegan, and Kyra Hinson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Lynn Casseday and Cary Gomer officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
