Altamont – Mr. James Lawson Walker, 74, passed away, Monday July 16, 2018 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was born in Tracy City, Tennessee on April 27, 1944 to Charles Jefferson Walker and Lillian Smartt Walker who preceded him in death along with his sisters, Glenda Walker, Jean Hobbs, Lucinda Tate, Shirley Campbell, Ruth Tate and Mayna Fults; brothers, Glen, Billy, Clarence and Charles Bo Walker.
Jimmy served as Mayor of Altamont for 12 years and was currently an Alderman for the city. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Altamont Ward. He was also a member of the Sewanee Lodge #405 F & AM Tracy City.
He is survived by his sister, Jeweldene Webster of Manchester; brother, Dwight Walker of Altamont; several nieces and nephews.
A masonic service will be conducted by the Sewanee Lodge at 6:00 PM Wednesday in the parlor.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Jody Campbell officiating with burial to follow in the Fults Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
