Palmer – Mr. James Albert “Jim” Brooks, Sr., 80, passed away Monday August 20, 2018 at his home. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on December 10, 1937 to James Calvin “Flop” Brooks and Elsie Kathleen Nunley Brooks who preceded him in death.
Jim was a retired Boiler Maker and worked at Combustion Engineering and he was a US Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Darlene Huffman Brooks; son, James A. “Jimmy” (Lynn) Brooks Jr.; sister, Linda (Harold) Shirley; grandchildren, Erica (Kevin), Alisha (Clay) and Bryson; great grandchildren, Zackory, Brooklyn and Blayze; niece, Karen (Jr.); 3 great-nieces; several cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Riley Anderson and Clayton Jones officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
