Obituary of Leila Gertrude Tate

 Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mrs. Leila Gertrude Tate, 102, passed away Thursday January 24, 2019 at the Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga from injuries she received in a automobile accident.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on March 31, 1916 to James Banks and Mary Lavisia Cagle who preceded her in death along with her husband, Marvin Tate; brother, Robbie Banks; sisters, Agnes James, Rosa Thompson, Martha Walker, Dollie Ivy and Nellie Alton; daughters, Mildred Phillips and Willie Wooten.

She was a active member of the Barkers Cove Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Oscar Howell (Katie) McDaniel, Johnny Lee (Louise) McDaniel, Jerry Foster McDaniel and Don Allen (Shirley) McDaniel; daughter, Elsie McDaniel; 29 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Chad Smith officiating with burial to follow in the Griffiths Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
