Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. William Douglas Hobbs, 82, passed away Sunday February 24, 2019 at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with his family at his bedside. He was born in Altamont, Tennessee on March 4, 1936 to William Horton Hobbs and Ida Mai Fults Hobbs who preceded him in death along with his sister, Opal Nunley; infant sister, Juanita Hobbs.
He was a member of the AirView Baptist Church. Douglas was a poultry farmer and logger. He also worked for Carrier Corporation and was a school bus driver for Grundy County.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Miller Hobbs; daughters, Sylvia (Mike) Lusk and Connie (Paul) Gallagher; sisters, Linda Sue (Charles) Childers and Treva (Larry) Campbell; grandchildren, Shandah (Ken) Brady, Shane (Miranda) Lusk, Justin (Jessica) Lusk, Mandy Gallagher, Bandy (Bryan) Simmons and Brandon (Meghan) Gallagher; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Elliott, Noah, Mia, Brooks, Willow, Briggs, Aubrey, Jackson, Ryley and Kyley; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Bryan Simmons, Justin Lusk and Ken Brady officiating with burial to follow in the AirView Cemetery. Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
