 Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mrs. Thelma Arlean Shrum Geary, 90, passed away Thursday March 14, 2019 at her sisters home in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on March 8, 1929 to Joseph Bailey Shrum and Grace Leona Dishroon Shrum who preceded her in death along with her husband, Alvin “Oats”Geary; brothers, Carl Bailey and Joe Brannon Shrum.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #266 Tracy City, Tennessee.  She was a school teacher in Grundy County before moving to Nashville where she became an Auditor for the Castner-Knott Department Store Company.  She attended Park Avenue Baptist Church for many years while living in Nashville.  After the death of her husband she moved back to Grundy County and attended the Palmer United Methodist Church and later First Methodist Church in Tracy City where she loved to sing in the choir.

She is survived by her sister and caregiver, Bernice Parson; sisters, Clara Humphrey and Ruby Nell James; brother, Marshall (Linda) Shrum; a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Danny Coffelt, Bill Ross and John Kennedy officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery.
