Obituary of Evelyn Dean Brewer

GRUETLI-LAAGER – Mrs. Evelyn Dean Brewer, age 78, peacefully entered into eternal rest and her Heavenly reward Sunday, January 3, 2021 at her home with her family at her side.  A true-to-life coal miner’s daughter, Evelyn was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on April 25, 1942 to Corbett and Pauline Sartain Taylor who preceded her in death.

Evelyn was a faithful, Proverbs 31 Christian and a member of the church of Christ at Collins and Gruetli-Laager.  She was a homemaker and retired from the Grundy County Government where she served as Judicial Commissioner for approximately 23 years.  Her greatest job, however, was being a wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved her family dearly and took pride in her care for them.  She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Michael Sanders and her beloved dog, Bocephus.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Brewer; daughter, Melody Renee Sanders; and grandson, Nathan Lee Sanders; sister, Debby (Ronny) Priest, McMinnville, TN; extended family, church families and a host of friends.  The family wishes to thank the ladies at Avalon Hospice for their loving care of Evelyn and Jamie Roberts and Devan Brewer of the Sheltering Arms Home, Doris and Kim Wiggins for their great assistance; eternal gratitude is yours.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Eddie Birdwell and Nathan Sanders officiating with burial to follow in the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
