Obituary of Buford Linuel Tate

Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. Buford Linuel Tate Jr., 78, died peacefully Tuesday Evening January 26, 2021 at his home with his family at his bedside.  He was born in Altamont, Tennessee on October 16, 1942 to Buford Tate Sr. and Sarah Scott Tate who preceded him in death along with his daughter, Tammy Lynn Richardson; sisters, Ruth McGee and Jean Fults; brothers, Sherman and Richard Tate; granddaughter, Erica Seagroves.

He was a loader operator for Tennessee Tree Cutters and operated his own Saw Mill after hours.  He was a dedicated hard working man. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Altamont, Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Smartt Tate; son, Brian (Amanda Debord) Tate; daughters, Sherry Seagroves and Melinda Killian; brothers, David (Kathy) Tate and Phillp Tate; sisters, Annie Mae King and Jewell (Ronnie) Akins; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Willie Childers and Aaron Barrett officiating with burial to follow in the Fults Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Thursday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
