John O. Fry, age 81, of Nappanee, died at 3:09 pm, Monday, April 26, 2021 at South Bend Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. He was born June 13, 1939 in Lagrange to Dan J. and Lydia (Helmuth) Fry.
John served in the Special Forces of the United States Army. He was a truck driver and was a Amish Taxi driver. He was a member of the Nappanee American Legion Post 154 and a former member of the American Legion in West Blockton, AL.
Surviving is a son, Timothy Fry, Madison, TN; siblings, Daniel Jr. (Ruby) Fry, Nappanee, Joe (Bonnie) Fry, Constantine, MI, Christ (Katy) Fry, Connete Lake, PA, Mel (Rosetta) Fry, Lagrange, Clarence (Polly Anna) Fry, Millersburg, Esther Fry, Mary Ellen (Vernon) Raber, both of Abbeville, SC; and sister-in-law, Polly Anna Fry, Topeka. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jacob Fry, Willy Fry, 2 infant brothers; and 2 infant sisters.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8, Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 29th at the funeral home. Rev. Kami Coffin will officiate, and Military Rites will be conducted by Nappanee American Legion.
Additional funeral services will be held in Palmer, TN at Layne Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 4th from 3-8 and graveside services will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 5th at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors
