Gruetli-Laager - Mrs. Avene Estell Norris, 77, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at her home with her family at her side. She attended New Life Ministry Church. She was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on June 3, 1935 to William and Mattie McGowan Griffith who preceded her in death along with her husband, Billy J. Norris; sisters, Ida Layne and Beatrice Kilgore; brothers, Stan, Lee, Max, Jim and J.C. Griffith. She is survived by her daughters, Mary "Sissy" (Mike) Fults, Rita (Jeff) Sweeton, Stephanie (Kevin) Gibbs and daughter of heart Sharon Sanders; son, Wayne (Donna) Norris; brothers, William (Rachel) and Oakland (Tootsie) Griffith; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Harold Steele, Tyler McCullough and Mack Hampton officiating with burial to follow in the Griffith Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
