Obituary of Wanda June Meeks

Palmer, Tennessee – Mrs. Wanda June Meeks, 92, passed away Saturday July 24, 2021, at her home.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on January 5, 1929, to Melvin C. “Bud” Hampton and Elizabeth Creighton Hampton who preceded her death along with her husband, J.T. Meeks; brother, Melvin Hampton; sister, Clayta Frank.

She worked alongside her husband at their business Meeks Auto Sales in Palmer for many years.  She was a member and past Sunday School Teacher of the Palmer Nazarene Church and attended the Campground Freewill Baptist Church in Pelham.

She is survived by her son, Brett (Anita) Meeks; grandchildren, Jacob (Stephanie) Meeks and Joshua Meeks; great grandchildren, Jasi, Chloe, Anna, Noah and Avery; nephews, Buster (Cynthia) Frank, Randy (Rena) Hampton and Wesley (Roxanne) Hampton; nieces, Patricia (Craig) Takacs, Susan (Kenny) Knight and Ruth Ann Hampton (Rod); several other great nieces, nephews; sister-in-law, Kathy Hampton.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with her son, Minister Brett Meeks officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery.

Visitation 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Sunday, and 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee
