I Saw a Butterfly Today A visit with the Lord through His great book, A thought of a friend and the new road she recently took, Made me wonder if her ancestors were met, Their names typed in her data base, perfectly set. The porch invited me to sit for reflection, Then I saw a yellow butterfly, a sample of perfection, Was it she, lifting my mourning spirit? Was she telling me to heal as she finally lit? Off she went again flitting about the flowers, But staying near me, bringing memories in showers, I heard her breathe and her heartbeats of labor, As she circled my being to assure me of her favor. Where are you sweet butterfly? At rest in loving warmth? You flew from us with your sudden death, Rest kind soul, we know you are near, Because I saw a butterfly, one happy and dear. by Jackie Layne Partin (My friend, Patricia Sue Scott—Nov 3, 1941- May 5, 2013)
