Obituary of Phillip Tyler Tate

Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. Phillip Tyler Tate, 73, passed away Wednesday November 17, 2021, at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee from injuries he received in a fire accident.

He was born in Altamont, Tennessee on March 29, 1948, to Buford and Sarah Scott Tate who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Linuel, Richard and Sherman Tate; sisters, Jean Fults and Ruth McGee.

He is survived by his former wife, Carrie Lou Wanamaker Tate; brothers, David (Kathy) Tate; sisters, Annie Mae King and Jewel (Ronnie) Akins; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. David Dickerson officiating with private burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery.

Visitation: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Friday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to help cover funeral costs.
