Obituary of Paul Samuel Turney

Tracy City, Tennessee – Mr. Paul S. Turney Sr., 73, passed away Thursday November 18, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 8, 1948, to Fred and Alberta McGraw Turney who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Jack and Don Turney.

He grew up in South Pittsburg, Tennessee and served Marion County as School Teacher, Truant officer and Superintendent of Schools for several years and later was the Director of the Cottage Peer Support Center. He attended Christ Church Episcopal and later Chestnut Springs Congregational Methodist Church after moving to Tracy City.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Nunley Turney; son, Paul S. Turney II; sister, Linda (Paul) Storey; stepchildren, Jared Knight, Kerrie (Travis) Hall, Nichelle Knight and Leah Nunley; grandchildren, Jeffery, Jeremiah, Hannah, Levi, Kaylee, Cayden and Madison; great grandchildren, Colton and Luna Rose; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday December 2, 2021, in the Layne Funeral Home, Chapel.
