HIXSON, TN - John Isaiah Creighton, 91, of Hixson, TN passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Originally from Tarlton Valley, TN, John was a graduate of Grundy County High School. He proudly served his country during the Korean War, sailing across the world as a Metalsmith on the battleship U.S.S. Missouri.
After his time in the Navy, John worked in construction and plumbing for both Dupont and TVA, eventually retiring as a Supervisor at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. He then spent much of his time working on his impressive vegetable garden, volunteering with Bethel Bible Village thrift store, enjoying bluegrass music, and serving over 60 years as a member of the Local 43 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union and Grand Lodge of Tennessee. He will be dearly missed by his family, community, and the congregation of Middle Valley Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by Wanda Creighton, his wife of 65 years; parents Morgan and Elizabeth Perry Creighton; brothers Arthur, Tom, Earl, James, and Leonard Creighton; and sisters Gladys Arnett and Martha Sue Miller. He is survived by his brother Ralph Creighton, sister Mary Kinser, and many nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Mickey Bane officiating.
Military honors will be held at the graveside.
Visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the graveside service
