Obituary of Robert Jackson Carrick

Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mr. Robert Jackson Carrick, 86, passed away Sunday March 6, 2022 at the STRHS Hospital in Winchester, Tennessee.  He was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on March 2, 1936 to Joe Wheeler Carrick and Maggie Hazel Nunley who preceded him in death along with his wife, Patsy Lou Smith Carrick; brother, Joe Phillip Carrick; sisters, Dorothy Lucille Troxler and Doris Bivens.

He was a US Army veteran and carpenter.  Bobby was of the Baptist faith and part time minister, Alabama football fan, animal lover especially his little dog, “Girl”, along with his cats and hogs.

He is survived by his daughters, Greta (Barry Payne) Carrick and Pattie “Pooch” (Red) Doss; son, Chris (Val) Nunley; sister, Sadie (George) Smartt; grandchildren, Adam “Add” Nunley, Drake and Briegh “B” Rymer, Zaven “Zavey”, Paizlan “Chichi”, Haivenly “Bigamoo” and Zaylin “Udden” Doss; great grandchildren, Rowan, Cree and Prue Payne, Sebastian Rymer; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Joe Nunley. Steven Smartt and Paizlan Doss officiating with burial to follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.

Visitation: 5:00 PM -9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
