Palmer, Tennessee – Ms. Melody Chrystal "Sam" Wooten, 59, passed away Monday May 16, 2022, at her home.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on June 4, 1962, to E.H. Wooten and Willie Mae McDaniel Wooten who preceded her in death.

She was a corrections officer at the Grundy County Sheriffs Department.

She is survived by her sisters, Connie Wooten, Delores Wooten and Michelle (Greg) Brown; brothers, Ronald (Shannon); Buddy (Julie) and Tony (Michelle) Wooten; loving nieces, Ashley, Brandy, Carrie, Mattie and Keechia; nephews, Travis, Ian, Tristin, Gage, Tyler and Garrick.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Tyler McCullough officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
