Murfreesboro- Mary Regena Smartt Dodson Stem, 74,of Murfreesboro, TN died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was born in Gruetli-Laager on Feb. 20, 1937 to Ernest E. Ross and Avis Smartt Meeks who preceded her in death. She enjoyed all kinds of sports especially basketball, being an all-star in high school. She was the former owner and operator of Doug and Mary's Discount, a retired Auctioneer and also retired from Music City Medical Supply. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, sons; Leland Wade & Brian Q. Dodson; son-n-law, Stanley E. Herrod; step-father, William Thomas "Petey" Meeks; husband; Douglas Stem; brothers, Ernest Eugene "Gene"Ross & Bobby Wayne Gifford; grandparents, Lyman Beecher & Flossie Tipton Smartt, John Edward & Margarett Trussell Ross; Great-granddaughter, Daysia Lee Neal, nephew; Ricky Allen Meeks, niece; April Dawn Ross. She is survived by daughter, Regenia Dodson Herrod, son Barton (Jan Newmon Dodson; daughter-in-laws, Alicia (Lovvorn) Dodson & Shirley (Meadows) Dodson; brother, Cecil Thomas "Tommy" (Mary Braden) Meeks; sister-in-law; Pat Blaisdell Ross;grandchildren, Aaron, Michael, Ellis, Casey, Justin, Katie, Danny and Alex Dodson, Jody (Kassie) Meadows, Melissa (Randall) Brown, Katherine (Ricky) Garrett,David (Renee) Herrod; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Aaron Barrett and Trey Pennington officiating, visitation : 3:00 PM -10:00 PM Sunday at Layne Funeral Home Palmer, TN. 931-779-7777
