Obituary of Irene Layne

Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mrs. Irene “Rene” Braden Layne,   88, a loving mother, sister and gran gran died peacefully Saturday December 31, 2022, at her home.

She was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on November 24, 1934, to William Floyd Braden and Florence Myers Braden who preceded her in death along with her husband, James Ed Layne; sons. Brent and Jim Layne; brother, Tom Braden.

Rene loved kids and telling stories about the good ole days.  She also enjoyed reading books.  Her most precious memories were those spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Frank); sons, Dan (Vickie) and Bruce Layne; grandchildren, April, Julie, Scotty, Shane, Hollie, and Jake; great grandchildren, Nakkia, Bryson, Ariel, Alivia, Kyndrianna and Faith; brothers, Lewis Braden and Roy (Kathy) Braden; sisters, Willie Mae Pickett, Mary Meeks and Ethelene Rankin; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Josh Layne officiating with burial to follow in the Swiss Colony Cemetery.

Visitation: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
