Obituary of Betty Jo Layne

Whitwell, Tennessee – Mrs. Betty Jo Layne, 80, of the Griffith Creek Community passed away Thursday January 5, 2022, at her home.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on March 24, 1942, to William Washington Perry and Eva McDonald Perry who preceded her in death along with her sisters, Patsy Ann Perry, Esther Mae Fults, Mary E. Perry, Peggy Perry and Mattie Sue Burroughs; brothers, Elmer “Bo” Perry and Billy Perry; son, Mark Layne; husband, Harvey Layne; grandchildren, Glenda White and Nicholas Layne.

Betty Jo was a loving mother and caregiver not only to her family but to all that came into her home.  She always made them feel like her own family with her kindness and loving heart.

She is survived by her, son, William (Diana) Layne; daughters, Sue (Bill) Lake, Kathleen (Charlie) Gholston and Jean Layne; daughter-in-law Patricia Layne; sister, Nancy Saucedo; grandchildren, Brandon, Melissa (Eddie), Randy (Summer), Linda, Tristan, Tyler (Kristen), Amanda, Willie (Paige) and Tracie (Paul); 14 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Eddie Birdwell officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Sunday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
