Dunlap - Mr. Jessie P. "J.P." Shipley, 68, of the Cagle Community died at his home Sunday October 13, 2013. He was the owner of Shipley Coal Company. He was born in Sewanee, Tennessee on December 8, 1944. He was preceded in death by his father, Jess Shipley; brothers, Leroy "Gabby" Shipley and David Shipley.
He is survived by his mother, Elsie Layne Shipley; son, Jesse Shipley; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Magouirk and Autumn (John) Higdon; brothers, Bradley (Vicki), Darwin (Carolyn), Bill (Paula) and Drew Shipley; sisters, Sue (Joe) Narramore, Annette (Rick) Rollins, Clema (Bobby) Richardson, Tammy Shipley and Jean Hennessee; Caregiver and friend, Diane Shipley; 4 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Griffith's Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
