Waycross, Georgia - Mr. James E. "Jim" Birdwell died early Tuesday morning at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on March 6, 1940 to the late George E. and Opal Marie James Birdwell who preceded him in death along with his brother, Charles Birdwell; sister, Clara Birdwell.
He retired from the Airforce in 1981 and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Birdwell; daughters, Cindy (Paul) Elliott, Dunlap, TN, Melissa (Joey) Todd, Patterson, GA and Stacey (Rusty) Hunt of Blackshear, GA; sister, Margie Birdwell, Palmer, TN; sister-in-law, Wanda Birdwell, Powells Crossroads, TN; 6 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home in Waycross, Georgia with burial to follow in the Waters Cemetery, Waycross, GA.
