Altamont - Mrs. Mary Juanita Tate Smartt, 74, died Thursday March 8, 2012 at her home. She was born in Beersheba Springs on August 27, 1937. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Carter Tate and Eudora Smartt Tate; husband, H.B. Smartt; brothers, George and Jack Tate, Glenn and J.W. Daniels. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Tate, Larry Layne, Johnny, Vernon and Marlin Whitman; daughters, Carol Brady and Phobe McGee; sisters, Rose Crawford, Evelyn and Lola Tate, Nancy Dyer; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Altamont Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Norris officiating. Visitation: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM Friday at Layne Funeral Home, Alamont, Tennessee.
