Coalmont - Mr. James E. "Jamie" Winton, 93, of the Cumberland Heights Community passed away Wednesday January 14, 2015 at the Sheltering Arms Home in Palmer. He was a retired Educator and a US Navy Veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Coalmont. He was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on October 21, 1921 to Leonard B. and Nina Campbell Winton who preceded him in death along with his wife, Jean Jacobs Winton; daughter, Rhonda K. Marconi; son, Gary Winton; sister, Ruth Northcutt; brothers, Dale and Wayne Winton.
He is survived by his son, James L. Winton, Coalmont; brothers, Ray (Doris) Winton, Coalmont and Howard (Mary Ann) Winton, Cowan; 6 grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Ray Winton and Rusty Hargis officiating with burial to follow in the Coalmont Cemetery. Military Honors will be given by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Visitation: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
