Altamont - Mrs. Frances Novella "Topsy" Whitman, passed away at her home Saturday May 2, 2015 with her family near. She was born in Altamont, Tennessee on March 24, 1930 to Arnold and Mary Lou Fults Tate who preceded her in death along with her husband, Elmo Whitman; brother, Robert Tate; son, Stanley Leon Whitman; grandson, Ransie Whitman.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Ann (Tony) Nunley and Glenda Elaine (Tommy) Francisco; sons, Geary Eugene (Susan), Richard Wayne "Ricky" (Pauline "Polly") and Alan Edwin (Lora) Whitman; sisters, Gladys Ross and Judy Ann Boren; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 4 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Minister John Potts officiating with burial to follow in the Whitman-King-Bess Cemetery. Visitation: 12:00 Noon - 9:00 PM Sunday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
