Palmer - Miss Kala Akins, 25, of Sale Creek, Tennessee, went home to be with Jesus Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her home surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on February 15, 1990. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth W. Akins; grandfather, J.L. Akins.
Kala was a student and attended for over 20 years at the Orange Grove Center. She enjoyed going to school, listening to gospel music, loved her pillows and watching Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers. She loved every moment she spent with her nieces Attie and Briella.
Kala's strength and courage has been such an inspiration and her love for Jesus will live in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her loving mother, Tabitha J. Irvin Johnson; grandparents, Pastor Russell and Brenda Irvin, Charlotte Akins; brother, Kyle Harris and family (Brittany, Attie and Briella); uncles, Ronald Akins and Jason Irvin and family (April, Gabe and Riley); special friend and caregiver, Luella Cash; A special "Thank You" to Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Jeremy Robinson, Nathan Eustice and Richard Long officiating with burial to follow in the Coalmont Cemetery. Visitation: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
