ALTAMONT - David Wayne "Butter" Bess, 31, died tragically Friday morning December 17, 2010 in a home fire. He was born in Cumberland Heights on July 14, 1979. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Basil Bess and Dewitt Meeks. He is survived by his parents, Bodie and Diane Meeks Bess; brothers, Christopher Brian and Scott Cody Bess; grandparents, Alice Meeks and Mary E. "Shorty" Bess; a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Dal Barrett and Johnny Dickerson officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont City Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM Sunday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.
