Palmer - Dorothy Givens Knight, 89, died Thursday January 6, 2011 at her home. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Altamont. She was born in Palmer on January 29, 1921 to Arthur Douglas and Minnie Nunley Givens who preceded her in death along with her husband, Charles Raymond "Babe" Knight; sisters, Agnes Schlageter and Inez James; grandson, Travis Tyler Knight. She is survived by her daughter, Melba (Gerald) Smith; sons, Charles Ronnie (Rosalyn) Knight and Tim (Melinda) Knight; grandchildren, Todd (Stacey) and Chad (Misty) Smith, Colby (Cristal) and Dearick (Dana) Knight, Kerrie, Nichelle and Jared (Raegan) Knight, Stuart Griswold; 13 great grandchildren; beloved nieces, Hester Mae Braden and Charlotte (Gary) Haynes. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with ministers Ray Winton and Joe Gray officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM Friday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee
