Altamont - Clyde "Socket" Smith, 83, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was a member of the Altamont Baptist Church. He was born in Altamont on October 17, 1927 to Charles and Minnie Fults Smith who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Ernest and Walter Sweeton, Vernie, Kelvin, Tommy and Warren Smith; sisters, Lila Sweeton and Flora Mae Smith. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Charles W. Smith of Murfreesboro, TN. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Micah Roberts officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Thursday at Layne Funeral Home; Altamont, TN.
